Voki

G'day

Isn't she cute? I created her through Voki! Why don't you sign up and create your own stories in English. You can record your own voice or type the text you want spoken! it's lots of fun!

Week 7

G'day all

Well, I'm sure you're all keenly looking forward to the Easter break and the extended time off! It'll give you a chance to work on some homework and assignments!!

If you get to have a break, perhaps you'd like to visit the Easter Show out at Homebush! It's a great way to spend a few hours looking at the farm animals, fresh produce and handicrafts from around the State. It can also be VERY expensive unless you can curb your spending or have a strict budget! To find out all about the event, log on to the Moodle and  print off the worksheet for Topic 6 and complete the activities via the web link.

This morning we read about people on our Australian banknotes. Choose one of these people and look them up on the web. Write down some key facts about their lives on a timeline. Put the info in your blog.
If  you haven't had a chance to complete the activities from last week then please take the opportunity to do so today.

I'll be checking your blogs over the next couple of days and I expect to see some recent content.

Have a good week and have a very Happy Easter. Enjoy a blog free day next Monday!

A bit of fun!

G'day all

Found this on EFL classroom and thought I'd share it with you! Who would have thought that a Pink Panther video could provide so many English verbs! If you feel like a challenge, then use the verbs to write a recount of the video! I wonder how many verbs you can use?

Week 6

G'day all

I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend! I had a lovely time and celebrated Ireland's National holiday yesterday! I didn't get stuck into the Guinness as I don't like it but I did wear green!

Last week you worked on some grammar so today it's time for some more listening and reading. As we mentioned this morning, you'll hear Heather and Sue talking about their favourite places. It's a good example of extended dialogue that could be part of Stage 2 in the IELTS speaking test.

Click on this link, watch the video and complete the worksheet.

On Thursday this week the college will be celebrating this year's Harmony Day event. Have you ever heard of this? What do you think it means? Click on this link to find out what's the themefor this year. When you've looked at the 2 short videos, click on the link to Harmony Heroes (on the left of the page) and read about this year's hero. In your blog, write a few sentences about Thomas Kenneally.

Next Saturday evening, the 23 March  there will be a world wide environmental event taking place. Do you know what it is? How long has it been running? Will you take part?
Do a Google search and see what info you can find. For example, how long has it been running, how many countries take part and anything else you think might be useful. Write up your answers as a short informal report in your blog.

Well, that should keep you busy for a while!

Happy blogging!

Week 5

G'day all

I hope your weekend was good and that you rested up so that you can survive another week in class!
Today's work is mainly practising a bit of grammar. This morning we did a bit of work on the article 'the' but here are a few more exercises to practise this. Try this link for some more!

Anne said you wanted to do some work on the passive voice too so have a look at these activities and see how you go!

If you have a look at this English language site, you'll find many many activities on every aspect of English grammar imaginable! the website opens at the home page so click on Grammar Activities and go for broke!

For those of you who want to have a break from grammar, have a look at Study English from the Australia Network. Here you can listen to the text and complete the written activities too. It's full of good ideas for English language learners. Have a look around the rest of the site too and explore what it has to offer!

Well, have a good week and happy blogging!
